Summer 2015
Determination. This is a strong word that brings much emotion. Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage is filled with families that have the desire and determination to have this word attached to their name. For you see this means to them, “completion”, “something done successfully”, and “achievement”. Read more…

Fall 2014
It has happened to many of us—“there is too much month left at the end of the paycheck”. By the end of the third week of the month the pay check is gone and there are still sweet little mouths to feed. That is the dilemma that our families face in Eveline’s Sunshine cottage. With your help, we are going to work to solve the problem. Read more…

Spring 2014
At some point, each of our lives is going to be represented by “The Dash”. Such as “Born… Month, day, year – Died… Month, day, year”. The dash in the middle is the whole story, everything that was done from the day of birth tho the day of death. WE ALL HAVE CHOICES TO MAKE – SOME CHOICES ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS. Read more…

Fall 2013
“HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE” I see this statement on Decorative home signs, Tee shirts, Church Marquees, etc. I do believe the statement, but to convince a single parent Mom of this statement, at times, is not always easy.   What she sees is a cloudy morning and also knows that the gray days of winter are ahead, she is behind in her school work due to the lack of consistent child care, her young son is sick more than well which also hinders her in keeping a job. April 2013
A wonderful aspect of our families being the Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage is the additional sides of life which are learned… besides the college education. Our Moms are learning leadership, healthy eating, fitness, budgeting… and they are learning these things together, so that they can practice what they learn, and pass all of this information on to their children. July 2012
Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage is not totally about success although that is one strong goal. Eveline’s  Sunshine Cottage is about “everyday life”. It is about hard work, sick children, inadequate jobs, classes that will not “soak in to the brain”, an endless supply of laundry, cars that “moan and groan” when they are started… when they are started.. IF they start, not enough hours in the day to get a good nights’ rest, and on and on. Read more…

October 2011
Put yourself in the “mindset” of a single mom raising 3 wonderful children, sitting in the homeless shelter, and wondering where life will take her from there….and when! (Envision Life at the shelter… everyone in the family sleeping, living, and existing in one room with all of their limited possessions.) I was encouraged to visit with this family, and to formulate an opinion about the Mom and her children becoming a candidate for Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage. Read more…
